| NCAAF 09/12 10:30 PM Sacramento St vs Fresno State |
| PICK: Fresno State -18.5 |

| Saturday NCAA Football Complimentary Selection from James Patrick Sports
Cal State Sacramento vs. Fresno State 10:30 pm. est. The MAC’s boldest move this offseason is welcoming Sacramento State, the latest FCS-to-FBS newcomer. The Hornets leap from the Big Sky into the conference as a football-only member, stepping into a brutal new reality. Long-time head coach Brennan Marion bolted for Colorado’s offensive coordinator role, leaving the program in transition. The cupboard is nearly bare: just four starters return overall – only one on offense. Talk about getting tossed straight into the fire. This Fresno State Bulldogs team has undergone a significant overhaul, adding (21) mid-year players and (10) new coaches, including HC Matt Entz, which has fostered a physical and competitive mentality. Matt Entz’s decision to leave North Dakota State’s head-coaching position to work as a defensive assistant at USC in ‘24 paid off. The Iowa native went (60-11) and guided the Bison to two FCS Championships from 2019-23. That success, along with his work with the Trojans’ defense in ‘24, propelled him into the top spot at Fresno State. Outside of the one-year stint at USC, the bulk of Entz’s coaching career has taken place in the Midwest. Fresno State returns (13) starters from a nine-win Arizona Bowl champion while bringing back one of the nation’s stingiest defenses. The Bulldogs team was limited by mediocre quarterback play, and HC Entz brought in Maryland transfer Khristian Martin, a dual-threat playmaker. Even better, the Bulldogs suffered minimal portal damage while adding (18) transfers and another strong recruiting class. Toughness, defense, and consistency remain the foundation of the program and this team is solid in all areas. | NFL 09/13 1:00 PM New York Jets vs Tennessee Titans |
| PICK: Tennessee Titans -1.5 |
|---|
| Sunday NFL Complimentary Selection from James Patrick Sports
Jets vs. Titans 1:00 pm. est. New York Jets HC Aaron Glenn was charged with bringing the franchise back to glory. It was a somewhat humiliating season in Aaron Glenn’s first time at the helm in New York. The Jets won just three games, and Glenn’s defense – the aspect of the game in which he is supposed to specialize– finished dead last in pass defense and did not intercept a single pass all season. The defense cannot be worse, and the special teams– while not being historically great again – will likely be one of the best in the league. Glenn is a great defensive mind that can get the most out of his defense. The former Lions defensive coordinator has a somewhat talented roster which is cause for some optimism in the “Big Apple”. There is no question that the roster is more talented than it was last year. However, if new QB Gino Smith is poor once again, it seems this will be another season of quarterback hell for New York. In Nashville, the Titans began another new era as Tennessee entered the offseason with a treasure chest of financial resources as well as an entrenched starting quarterback. Robert Saleh was a candidate deserving of a second chance to be an NFL head coach after being put in the unemplyed category by these New York Jets. HC Saleh sure knows how to coach a defense, and he was able to bring Brian Daboll in as his offensive coordinator, giving Tennessee a clear offensive identity. That makes this coaching staff way more appealing for a roster that is looking to make a jump this season. Tennessee actually scored at least (24) points in the final six games of last season, and QB Ward’s strides as a passer played a big role in that. QB Ward now has a much better group of weapons to work with. The Titans used the fourth pick in the NFL Draft on Carnell Tate, who looks like a future stud at wideout. They also signed Wan’Dale Robinson, one of OC Daboll’s favorites, to be their receiver out of the slot. With a solid offensive line, a great group of pass-catchers, and some good rushers out of the backfield, the Titans can be a league-average offense. The Titans also completely overhauled their defense. The Titans were active on the defensive side of the ball as the team had a strong draft class. Saleh and his staff, which includes new coordinators and former NFL head coaches Brian Daboll and Gus Bradley, are tasked with building a defense near the bottom of almost all categories. Saleh and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley play a Cover 3 zone base that relies on the front four to get home and drops seven into coverage. The scheme is designed to limit explosive passing plays, which they gave up way too frequently last season. “Remember the Titans” this Sunday as they get the “W” in their home opener.
